Leucanthemum × superbum ‘Becky’, commonly known as Shasta Daisy, is a vigorous, clump-forming herbaceous perennial valued for its large white daisy flowers and long flowering period. It is an excellent choice for flower borders, cottage gardens, prairie-style planting and wildlife-friendly gardens.
The plant forms a clump of dark green, coarsely toothed leaves, with strong, upright stems reaching approximately 120cm in height. From summer onwards, the rigid stems are topped with large single white flowers, around 10–12cm across, each with a prominent yellow centre.
Its tall, upright habit makes ‘Becky’ particularly effective in the middle or back of a flower border, where the bright white flowers create a strong contrast against darker foliage and colourful summer perennials.
Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Deadheading spent flowers can encourage further blooms and extend the flowering period.
A hardy and reliable perennial, ‘Becky’ works particularly well in cottage and informal planting schemes. Its open flowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, making it a useful addition to a wildlife-friendly garden.
