Azalea ‘Hot Shot Variegata’

Azalea ‘Hot Shot Variegata’ is a compact, low-growing evergreen flowering shrub valued for its striking variegated foliage and vibrant spring flowers. Its spreading habit makes it particularly useful for smaller gardens, borders, rockeries, containers and Japanese-style planting.

The small, dark green leaves have attractive pale creamy-yellow margins, providing colour and interest throughout the year. In spring, clusters of bright orange-red flowers appear, each with dark red spotting and distinctive wavy-edged petals, creating a striking contrast against the variegated foliage.

Growing to approximately 75cm in height, with a low, spreading habit, ‘Hot Shot Variegata’ is an excellent choice for the front of borders, groundcover-style planting and containers. It can also be planted in groups to create a colourful, low-growing display.

Plant in acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Azaleas require acidic conditions to thrive and are not suitable for alkaline or chalky soils.

Its combination of evergreen variegated foliage and bright spring flowers makes ‘Hot Shot Variegata’ a particularly useful feature shrub for woodland, Japanese and informal planting schemes.
