Sorbus ‘Wisley Gold’

Sorbus ‘Wisley Gold’, commonly known as Rowan, is a small, upright deciduous ornamental tree valued for its attractive foliage, white spring flowers and long-lasting golden-yellow berries. It is an excellent choice for smaller gardens, lawns, mixed borders and specimen planting.

The tree develops a neat, upright habit with attractive dark green, toothed leaves, which provide a fresh canopy through spring and summer before turning vibrant orange and red shades in autumn.

In spring, clusters of delicate white flowers appear amongst the foliage, creating an attractive display and providing a valuable source of nectar for bees and other pollinating insects.

The flowers are followed by abundant clusters of distinctive golden-yellow berries, which persist for a long period through autumn and can provide valuable food for birds, as well as adding bright colour to the garden as the seasons change.

Its compact, upright form makes ‘Wisley Gold’ particularly useful where space is limited, while its combination of autumn foliage and golden fruit provides excellent seasonal interest.

Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. With its attractive foliage, white blossom and long-lasting golden berries, Sorbus ‘Wisley Gold’ is a lovely choice for adding colour and interest across several seasons.
