Prunus × subhirtella ‘Autumnalis Rosea’, commonly known as Winter-Flowering Cherry, is a graceful deciduous ornamental tree valued for its unusual flowering period and attractive autumn colour. It is an excellent choice for lawns, smaller gardens, mixed borders and specimen planting.

The tree develops a naturally spreading habit, creating an attractive open crown. Its green leaves provide a fresh backdrop through spring and summer before turning yellow in autumn, adding a further splash of seasonal colour.

Unlike many flowering cherries, ‘Autumnalis Rosea’ produces its pale pink, semi-double flowers from late autumn through winter and into early spring, often flowering intermittently whenever conditions are mild. This makes it particularly valuable for bringing colour to the garden during the colder months.

Its spreading form and relatively moderate size make it an excellent feature or specimen tree, particularly when planted where its winter blossom can be appreciated up close.

Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. With its unusual flowering season, delicate pink blossom and attractive autumn foliage, ‘Autumnalis Rosea’ provides interest across several seasons.
