Amelanchier ‘Robin Hill’ is a small ornamental and specimen tree with a neat, upright habit and excellent seasonal interest. It is a versatile choice for smaller gardens, lawns, borders and feature planting, providing flowers, colourful foliage and berries throughout the year.
In spring, the tree produces attractive pink buds which open to pale pink flowers before fading to white. These are followed by small, edible dark purple berries, which are also enjoyed by birds.
The foliage emerges with a beautiful bronzy tint in spring, developing into fresh green leaves through summer before turning to vibrant orange and red shades in autumn. This combination of blossom, berries and autumn colour makes ‘Robin Hill’ an attractive tree from spring through to autumn.
Growing to approximately 5–8 metres in height, it develops a dense, upright crown which gradually becomes more spreading with age. Its relatively compact size makes it particularly useful as a specimen or feature tree in smaller gardens, while also working well in mixed borders and naturalistic planting.
Plant in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. The spring flowers provide a valuable source of nectar for pollinating insects, while the berries are attractive to birds.
