A small, spiny tree to about 5m with downy young shoots and narrow, silvery-green leaves covered in downy hairs, especially on the undersides. In spring, bears clusters of large white blossom, 3cm across, with conspicuous red anthers, followed in autumn by rounded, yellow-green, ornamental fruit up to 2cm across.
