Malus ‘Wisley Crab’

Malus ‘Wisley Crab’, commonly known as a Crab Apple, is an attractive rounded deciduous ornamental tree grown for its changing foliage, deep purple-red flowers and distinctive dark red fruit. It is an excellent choice for lawns, mixed borders, smaller gardens and wildlife-friendly planting.

The tree develops a naturally rounded crown, with oval leaves emerging in attractive bronze-red shades before maturing to dark green. In spring, it produces clusters of striking dark purple-red flowers, creating a bold display against the foliage.

After flowering, the tree produces large, conical dark red crab apples, providing additional colour and seasonal interest later in the year. The fruit can also provide food for birds and other wildlife.

Its rounded habit and attractive combination of foliage, flowers and fruit make ‘Wisley Crab’ an excellent feature or specimen tree, particularly when planted where its seasonal changes can be appreciated.

Plant in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Its combination of colourful spring flowers, changing foliage and distinctive autumn fruit makes it a versatile addition to the garden.
