Malus ‘Evereste’, commonly known as a Crab Apple, is a compact deciduous ornamental tree valued for its attractive spring blossom and colourful autumn fruit. It is an excellent choice for smaller gardens, lawns, mixed borders and wildlife-friendly planting.
The tree develops a neat, upright to rounded habit with attractive green leaves that have subtle lobing. In spring, red flower buds open to clusters of white flowers, creating a beautiful contrast and providing an important source of nectar for pollinating insects.
After flowering, the tree produces numerous small yellowish-orange fruits, which add colour and interest through autumn and can often remain on the tree into winter.
Growing to approximately 4–5 metres in height, ‘Evereste’ is a manageable size for many gardens and makes an excellent specimen or feature tree. Its seasonal combination of blossom, foliage and fruit provides interest throughout much of the year.
Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil. The flowers attract bees and other pollinating insects, while the small fruits provide food for birds, making it a valuable addition to a wildlife-friendly garden.
