Ginkgo Biloba ‘Gold Flame’

Ginkgo biloba ‘Gold Flame’ is a compact, upright deciduous ornamental tree with a naturally narrow, columnar habit and spectacular golden-yellow autumn foliage. It is an excellent choice for small gardens, patios, courtyards, formal planting and containers, where space is limited.

This naturally fastigiate variety forms a tight, compact crown without the need for regular pruning. Its unusual fan-shaped green leaves provide attractive foliage through spring and summer before turning a brilliant golden yellow in autumn.

Growing to approximately 4–6 metres in height, with a relatively narrow spread, ‘Gold Flame’ is much more manageable than a standard Ginkgo and is particularly useful where a vertical feature is required without taking up much ground space.

Its naturally upright shape makes it an excellent specimen or feature tree, while its compact growth means it can also be grown successfully in a large container or tub. Once established, it is tolerant of dry conditions and adapts to a wide range of soil types, provided the soil is well drained.

Plant in full sun or partial shade. With its architectural form, low-maintenance habit and exceptional autumn colour, Ginkgo ‘Gold Flame’ is a striking choice for both traditional and contemporary gardens.
