Acer platanoides ‘Drummondii’

Acer platanoides ‘Drummondii’, also known as Variegated Norway Maple or Harlequin Maple, is a medium to large ornamental and specimen tree, valued for its striking variegated foliage and dense, rounded crown.

The deeply lobed leaves have green centres with broad creamy-white margins, creating a bright contrast throughout spring and summer. The foliage develops attractive yellow tones in autumn, while clusters of small yellow flowers appear in spring before the leaves emerge.

A mature tree can reach approximately 10–15 metres in height, with a broad spread of around 8 metres or more, so it is best suited to larger gardens, lawns, parks and open spaces where it has plenty of room to develop.

Its distinctive variegated foliage makes it particularly effective as a feature or specimen tree, where it can provide a strong focal point and contrast beautifully with darker green trees and shrubs. It is also suitable for architectural and wildlife planting.
